Two Ways to Sign In
Option 1: GCKey
GCKey is the Government of Canada's own login system.
To create a GCKey (first time):
- Go to canada.ca and click "Sign in to your IRCC account"
- Click "GCKey" then "Sign Up"
- Create a username (8-16 characters)
- Create a password (8-16 characters, must include uppercase, lowercase, and numbers)
- Set up recovery questions (you will need these if you forget your password)
- Accept the terms of use
To sign in with GCKey:
- Go to canada.ca → "Sign in to your IRCC account"
- Click "GCKey"
- Enter your username and password
- You are now in your IRCC secure account
Option 2: Sign-In Partner (Your Bank)
This method uses your existing bank login — often the easier option.
Participating banks:
- BMO (Bank of Montreal)
- CIBC
- Desjardins
- National Bank
- RBC (Royal Bank of Canada)
- Scotiabank
- TD (Toronto-Dominion)
- and others
To sign in with Sign-In Partner:
- Go to canada.ca → "Sign in to your IRCC account"
- Click "Sign-In Partner"
- Select your bank from the list
- You are redirected to your bank's login page
- Enter your banking credentials
- The bank sends a confirmation back to IRCC — you are signed in
Note: Your bank does NOT share your financial information with the government. They only confirm your identity.
What You Can See Once Signed In
After signing in, navigate to "View my submitted applications or profiles". You will see:
Application Status
- Current processing stage (Received, In Process, Decision Made, etc.)
- Date of last status change
Correspondence
- Any letters or emails from IRCC
- Requests for additional documents
- Test invitations
- Ceremony invitations
Action Required
- Documents you need to submit
- Deadlines for responses
